Belated Frocktastic Friday!

Apologies for the delay with frocktastic friday, i was having some technical issues, so lets think of it as a marvellous monday today. Today’s dress comes from De Vol clothing, who make the most vintage inspired dresses, skirts and tops.

This is a real 1950’s diner style dress with contrasting red collar and sleeve detail and red buttons from top to bottom. The print is a fabulous bowling print and i just love it.

Miss Lucy loves Heidi and Gretel jewellery store

Hi everyone! Sorry i’ve been absent on the blog front lately. I’ve been outdoors and enjoying the fabulous sunny summer weather here in New Zealand, sorry if you feel neglected!

Today i thought i’d share with you the most fabulous jewellery store Heidi and Gretel. They design and hand paint the cutest brooches and trinkets.  My favourite are the gorgeous pink pretzel brooches, and i’m currently eagerly awaiting the delivery of one in the mail, if i’m honest i’ve been checking everyday to see if it’s arrived yet!

Apricot Jam

I love summer because for me it’s time to make jam! Yesterday i decided to try a new Apricot jam recipe, courtesy of my sister-in-law’s Grandma! Her recipe couldn’t be simpler, and the jam is super yummy!

1kg of Apricots

1kg of Jam sugar (i use chelsea brand here in new Zealand)

Halve the apricots, discarding the pip. Place in a large pan with 1 kg of jam sugar.

Leave overnight, covered with a lid

In the morning, put on a very low heat.

Stir to combine.

Once the sugar starts to dissolve  continue to stir intermittently over a period of 15 to 20 minutes . The heat should be on the lowest setting.

After approximately 15 minutes take out a teaspoon of jam and place on a small plate. Leave for at least a minutes. Run your finger though the middle of the jam. If the jam has reached setting point it won’t run and will appear jelly-ish on the plate.

Take jam off heat and bottle. I prefer the boiling sterilisation method. I just boil my jars in a big pan of water for about 15 minutes.

The jam will be ready to eat straight away.

Enjoy !

Happy Shoe Year!

it’s no secret shoes are my passion! Ever since i was a little girl i have been obsessed with shoes. Whenever we went shoe shopping when i was little (probably once a year) i would always choose red shoes! Nowadays although i still love red shoes, out of necessity i have had to expand the colour schemes, unfortunately red shoes do not go with everything.  I am currently in love these shoes from B.a.i.t footwear! They will be available on their website from January 20th. The only issue  i have is narrowing my selection down to just one pair, i want them all!
