A flamboyance of flamingos

This post is inspired by a recent article on Apartment therapy, a homage of sorts to acknowledge the passing of Donald Featherstone, the creator of the pink plastic flamingo. Apartment therapy featured DIY flamingo inspired projects. My favourite being the taxidermy flamingo, the flamingo sprinkler and the flamingo table piece, fabulous!

So I thought I would feature some of my favourite flamingo buys at the moment. I love the flamngo print hepburn dress from Lady V London, it’s just so pretty! The print is also available in a wide variety of styles.

SS15HEPflamingo-01If you are looking for just a touch of flamingo you could consider these brooches from Vintage Pip:

Kate Spade has a wonderful collection of Flamingo inspired bags at the moment, my favourite is this gorgeous purse:

And finally there has to be shoes, I love Miss L fires flamingo sandals:

Or if you are looking for a more subtle flamingo print how about the TUK flats from Modcloth, they are even on sale at the moment!

Shoe of the week

We have just passed mid  winter here in Auckland, New Zealand. Already signs of spring are starting to emerge, the magnolias are in bloom, the sheep in Cornwall park are heavily pregnant, and daffodils are already showing their sunny heads. We have also just booked our flights home to Australia for Christmas, so i am already thinking of my summer wardrobe. I would love this gorgeous pair of Rhonda heels from Miss L fire, they would go with everything! And even if they didn’t I would wear them any way. And they have cherries, what more could you want! Available in 3 colours, see for more details.

Have a wonderful week everyone

This gorgeous dress has a cross over sweetheart neckline, cinched waiste with a tie sash, 3/4 length sleeves and a flared skirt, perfect for wearing a petticoat under. Available in a variety of pretty and fun patterns, here are a sample of my favourites!

Unicorn gym pants!

I am very much in need of new gym pants. When I run my pants fall down, so i spend my entire run pulling up the back of my pants, arrgghh! My sister recently bought a pair of rainbow mermaid pants from Pink punk and said they were fantastic! So I just went on their site this morning and discovered they have rainbow unicorn gym pants, oh my goodness, I had to order them, and hopefully they are on their way to New Zealand right now!

Available in either capri or full length pant, they also sell sporty skirts and racer back tops. They are pretty reasonably priced as well!

289061987In addition to the fabulous unicorn print, some of my other favourites are the mermaid print, bubble wrap, neon voltage and the tropical jungle print!

Once my order arrives I will provide a review of them!

Slow cooker Chocolate fudge

For quite a long time now i’ve been seeing recipes pop up for slow cooker fudge on my face book news feed. Today we needed to make a present for a chocolate loving friends birthday, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to road test the recipe.

500 g of chocolate (I used Whittaker’s almond and milk chocolate)

1 395 g tin of condensed milk (full fat variety)

1 tablespoon of butter

1 teaspoon of vanilla

Break up the chocolate and place all of the ingredients in your slow cooker on a low heat with the lid off.Stir every 15 minutes with a plastic/silicon or metal spatula (not a wooden spoon). Continue to stir every 15 minutes for 2 hours.

Pour into a slice tin lined with grease proof paper.

Put aside to set, either in the fridge, or if you are in chilly new zealand at the moment like me, out on your bench. After approximately an hour it should be set, and once set, slice in bite size squares.

The beauty of this recipe is you can really use any type of chocolate you like. I used almond but you could use dark chocolate, or add smarties or m & m’s or nuts, or even make a rocky road fudge. Yum!

Have a fabulous weekend!

It’s frocktastic friday

I have two main fashion loves in life, shoes and pretty dresses. Today I was given the most wonderful gift, a book that is a homage to divine shoes. Today I think my favourite pair are the gold butterfly shoes from  Alexander McQueen’s Spring/summer 2011 collection, they remind me of a midsummer night dream for some reason!

And my favourite dress today is from Bonsai kitty. This is an Australian company that produce the most gorgeous pussy bow tops amongst other things. New to their website is this super cute classic pussy bow dress! Available in a variety of colours, I think I  may be ordering the navy with red contrast.
